This is what Josh has typed to introduce himself to his fellow students in August 2007:
"My name is Joshua Harris. I am nineteen years old. I studied in a school in America called Higashi for five years. I then went to Eitz Chaim for three good years.
The way I communicate is called facilitated communication. I began using Facilitated communication four years ago. My personal assistants support my arm but it is only me that does the actual typing. I have used this form of communication to publish articles in newspapers and making my DVDs.
Do not be distracted by the things I do to calm my body and make it possible to listen to things going on around me. This may range from making noises, to moving around the room, to using repetitive motions. These calming skills help me to listen more clearly.
My personal assistants role is to teach me torah in yeshiva and to improve my quality of life. It is important to know that although I may not always look like I am listening I really am."
